A while ago Pier and I booked tickets to Porto, it was a spontaneous decision which we made a lot in advance while usually we are extremely last minute. We’ve been craving to visit Portugal for a long time, a new country and a new city for him and for me. Yes, cause even if we travel a lot, we mostly go to the places we’ve already been to. So a year ago, we decided that every year between our travels, we will go at least once a year to a new country.
I choosed to stay at Hotel Teatro, a wonderful hotel just in the heart of the city, a few steps away from one of my favorite street Rua de Santa Catarina and Sao Bento railway station so famous for its beautiful azulejos.
The interior design is inspired by a theater, from here is the name of the hotel. The dark colors and soft lights makes the place really intimate, like a soft blanket you want to cuddle in after a long day. It’s actually was one of Pier’s favorite hotels we ever stayed in and personally I have to make a note on how kind and welcoming was all the staff! (that’s so important to me as the experience is made 90% of how the people treats you!)
The days we’ve been in Porto were pretty rainy, but we weren’t sad because of that as we really loved to spend some time in our hotel watching the storm going on outside while we’ve been doing a degustation of Porto wine at the bar of our hotel’s bar.
But do you know the main reason of why I love the hotels so much? Breakfast! I just feel so spoiled to wake up to perfectly scrambled eggs, fresh juice and an infinite selection of pastries! Ah, and at the Teatro Hotel I’ve had my first Pastel de Nata and it was actually my favorite of all the other once I had later!
