Whether you’re an avid traveller or you’re simply always on the go, you know that it takes a certain amount of planning to dress fashionably while still keeping your comfort in tact. For some people, dressing both fashionably and functionally is quite the task. But with the right attitude and just enough style savvy, you too can easily dress for the occasion while looking as great as you feel. For a few different scenarios, I’ve gathered some of my best tips for dressing the part without compromising anything—whether it’s looks or comfort.
On a plane…
If you’re travelling on a plane, perhaps the most important factor of your fashion is its comfort level. Nobody likes to be sitting on a plane, itching at a sweater or confined within a pair of no-stretch denims. It is in this type of situation when athleisure style comes in great handy. Take style cues from supermodel Miranda Kerr, who was spotted wearing leggings and trainers when she was leaving the airport. She kept her pieces basic but then added chic details for an extra touch of class, such as an oversized coat, colorful scarf and trendy shades. The key is to be cozy but still put-together.

Running errands…
Since most errands don’t actually require you to run (thank goodness!), your trip from the market to dry cleaner to post office can be done in style. During the days you’re swamped with errands, you’ll want to make sure you don’t look like you were too busy to put on a decent outfit. Refinery29 gives some great ideas, but I especially love “the one with ALL the pockets.” Why? Because nobody likes showing up to the store with nowhere to quickly stash her iPhone and keys. Pockets are crucial for errand running, and with a denim parka, you can easily store odds and ends in style.

Day full of meetings…
Some people like to schedule all of their meetings in one day. It can be useful when you don’t want to “waste” multiple days on meetings, so you simply stack them up back-to-back to get them over with. The only problem with this is that all of your meetings often do not take place in the same location, which then results in a bit of a hurried demeanor lasting all day long. Even if you’ll be zipping from meeting to meeting, you’ll still need to look your best. Lyst says you can find “both casual and formal dresses for modern office style,” and wearing a dress is definitely your best bet. Depending on your usual meeting/work attire, choose a dress that you can wear later with a smart blazer or quirky coat to account for any temperature differences and outfit altering.
No matter what it is that’s got your agenda packed with ETAs, don’t let the threat of timeliness deter you from choosing a comfortably chic outfit. If you don’t dress according to your occasion, it will work against you. But if you just take a couple extra minutes to think it through, what you choose to wear can make life easier (hello, extra pockets!). Bonus points? You’ll also look great doing whatever it is you’re doing, like traveling, running errands and attending meetings. And we all know that looking great plays a large part in feeling great.
